SG295 Steel: Economical Choice for General Structures
SG295 is a carbon structural steel mainly used in general industrial structures and mechanical manufacturing. As a medium-low strength steel, it offers good processability and economy, widely applied in structural components for non-extreme environments.
SG295 features moderate strength and good plasticity, with a yield strength of approximately 295MPa and tensile strength of 430-560MPa. It is easy to cut, bend, weld, and process, suitable for mass production. Its chemical composition is mainly iron and carbon, with 0.17%-0.24% carbon, 0.50%-1.00% manganese, ≤0.35% silicon, and sulfur, phosphorus controlled within standard ranges. Without complex alloy additions, it has low production costs.
Applications include building steel structures (e.g., brackets, beams), non-load-bearing mechanical components (e.g., gearbox housings, flanges), auxiliary structures of automobile chassis, and small-to-medium pressure vessels (e.g., water storage tanks). In scenarios requiring moderate strength but emphasizing processability and cost control, SG295 is a cost-effective choice.
